Christmas Trees
Fresh Christmas trees give unparalleled beauty and fragrance to a traditional family Christmas celebration. Every spring, thousands of evergreens are planted at Cooks’ Woods, and in 7-10 years will be ready to harvest. Visit our farm and enjoy the pleasure of choosing and cutting your own Christmas tree! And if you are short on time, choose one of our pre-cut trees in the upper level of the barn.
Visitors to the farm will find the following species of trees from which to choose:
Balsam Fir
Our most popular Christmas tree, the Balsam Fir is the most fragrant of all species. It has short, dark green needles and excellent form for displaying ornaments.
Canaan Fir
Somewhat of a “hybrid” of the Balsam and Fraser Firs, the Canaan Fir has a pleasant scent and soft needles. Its richly green, layered branches are ideal for decorating.
Concolor Fir
The Concolor Fir is known for its powder-blue needles and citrusy scent. The medium-length needles give this tree a unique appearance.
Fraser Fir
A customer favorite for its color and strong twigs, Fraser Fir has excellent needle retention. It has a straight trunk and short needles that beautifully display lights and heavier decorations.
Scotch Pine
The Scotch Pine is a hardy tree with medium-length blue-green needles. With excellent needle retention, it has long been a traditional Christmas tree.
White Pine
Characterized by its long needles, the White Pine is soft to the touch. It has good needle retention. Because of its softer branches, this tree is best suited for lightweight ornaments.

We provide saws (please leave the chainsaws at home!) for folks who wish to cut their own tree. Shaking and baling of trees is provided for no additional charge*. Christmas tree stands in several sizes to fit most trees are available.
* EXCEPTION: If you choose a really large, really dense tree, please know that we may not be able to shake or bale it because of the risk of injury to our staff and because such trees can damage our equipment. You will need to bring a truck or trailer to haul the unbaled tree. We can get it loaded onto your truck or trailer, but the rest is up to you. Our staff would be happy to advise you on whether or not the tree you have chosen can be shaken and baled before you cut it down.
